Rick Masters Benefit
Sunday, March 10, 2013
Rick Masters is a lifelong resident of the Ashland community. You may know Rick as the owner of RAM Services, the face of Sorellas II, a former Ashland County Fair Board member, an Ashland Elks 1360 member, or simply a patron of local businesses. Rick has always put others before himself and continually supported his community, whether it was purchasing livestock at the Ashland County Fair, feeding cancer survivors at the Relay for Life, suppporting United Way, or simply donating a gift card for a post prom raffle.
In 2012, Rick learned that he was suffering from an astrocytoma brain tumor for which he spent several months traveling to doctor's appointments, trying to identify a successful treatment. During this time he faced many hardships, as the tumor was slowing down his normally fast paced lifestyle. With the encouragement of friends and medical professionals, Rick was to begin cancer treatments in December, 2012. He attended his first radiation treatment on Dec. 18th and had planned to attend the second one on the next day. That evening Rick fell in his home and suffered severe brain trauma. Rick spent several weeks in the hospital, and several in a rehabilitation center, where he missed Christmas and his 57th birthday. He has since been transferred to The Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Ashland, where he is no longer an hour drive away from family and friends. However, Rick's stay there is financially burdening, because all of his care is being paid for out-of-pocket. For the first time, we are asking on Rick's behalf, for the help of our community in Rick's time of need.
On Sunday, March 10 from 1-5 PM, we will be hosting a benefit for Rick at Sorellas to help alleviate medical expenses. We are seeking donations to help make this benefit successful and are appreciative of all and any that we receive. Food will be served with a suggested donation and raffles/auctions will also be help throughout the afternoon. Any donations of money, baskets, goods, gift cards can be dropped off at Sorellas II. A 50-50 drawing will also be held. Tickets available now at the restaurant.
On behalf of Rick, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your consideration and contribution.
Thank you,
Family and Friends of Rick Masters
